DIETER ROTH (SWITZERLAND)

Swiss poet, graphic designer and intermedia action and object artist of German descent. Born in Hannover, youth in Switzerland. Apprenticeship as graphic designer at Friedrich Wüthrich in Berne. Considered as representative of concrete poetry. Created organic art objects which were subject to a process of gradual change and decay. Produced works of Eat-Art with Daniel Spoerri and André Thomkins. Close friendship and common artistic producing with Richard Hamilton. Was rewarded with the Berliner Kunstpreis for Bildende Kunst in 1994 and received the Cologne Fine Art price in 1998.
